The first local head race of the fall season is just around the corner and will feature a new two-day format that will combine the competitive challenge of a 4.5Km Head Race with the beauty of a 20 km recreational row down the historic St. John River in its full fall colours.
The Head of the Four Bridges 4.5Km Race will take place at 2 p.m. and another at 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 29th. Competitors will start from the Princess Margaret Bridge and finish at the small island across from the Fredericton Rowing Club. Close to 50 boats have been registered for the event which includes not only rowing clubs from the maritimes but university teams as well.
On Sunday morning crews will leave the Fredericton Rowing Club at 8 a.m. for a 20 km row down to the Oromocto Rowing Club for a BBQ and awards ceremony to follow. Competitors include entries from all categories and age classes.
