The Fredericton Rowing Club has competitive programs for juniors, seniors and masters as well as a learn to row program for beginners. Decide which program is right for you and fill out the FRC registration form and your payment to the club.

Learn to Row

  • Cost: $200
  • Practices: 2/week for 6 weeks, either U18 or Adult
  • Equipment: Tier III
  • Coach: Jennifer Fitzpatrick
  • Dates: begins June 23

Sessions:
Learn to row classes will be offered to two target groups: those under 18 years of age and adults. Each course lasts for 6 weeks and is covered in 2 hour sessions two times a week. Material covered includes basic rowing shell handling skills, boat safety, and an introduction to basic rowing technique. Graduates from Learn to Row will be prepared to enter the Recreational/Fitness Rowing Program.

Wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move in but preferably not too loose and bring spare socks, water, a hat and sunscreen.

*All registration fees include Rowing Canada Aviron's liability insurance and an RCA membership.

Recreational/Fitness Rowing

  • Cost: $240
  • Practices: Twice per week, plus Saturday
  • Equipment: Tier III
  • Coach: Jennifer Fitzpatrick
  • Dates: May – August

The recreational/fitness rowing program is designed to provide rowers with supervised practice times and coaching. Rowers in the program include new graduates from learn-to-row, non-competitive rowers, and those looking for outdoor fitness/recreation opportunities. Fees do not include a racing license therefore these rowers cannot participate in RCA sanctioned regattas, but are welcome to take part in weekly club time-trials as well as scheduled practices.

Club Competitive

  • Cost: $380
  • Practices: 3 times per week, plus Saturday time trial
  • Equipment: Tier II, race Tier I if available
  • Coach: Jennifer Fitzpatrick
  • Dates: May – August

The Club Racing Program offers structured practices focusing on technical skills and physical development and an introduction to psychological and tactical skills for racing. Club racers are divided into junior (18 and under) and open age categories for practice times. Fees include a racing license and rowers are encouraged to participate in local and regional regattas. Scheduled practices include Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning, Thursday Open Row and Saturday Club Time Trials.

Performance Racing

  • Cost: $500
  • Practices: up to 9/week
  • Equipment: Tier I
  • Coach: Pat Cody
  • Dates: April  – August

The Performance Racing Program is a competitive group with the goal of performance excellence at the regional and national level. Athletes must have well-defined (SMART) goals and demonstrate a desire to perform at the highest levels of club competition in Canada . The coaching focus will be on advanced physical, psychological, tactical and technical skill development and mastery. Athletes must submit to performance testing protocols as required for crew selection, and attend all regional events and have the intent to attend national events. Junior participants (18 and under) will participate in morning Junior Club Racing practices and evening Performance Racing practices.

Payment Schedule:

Fees and registration forms must be submitted to the Club Registrar, Barbara Dugas. Coaches will NOT be accepting money from athletes in 2007.

First installment of fees (50%) and registration forms MUST be submitted to Club Registrar prior to on-water practice. Fees must be paid IN FULL by June 1. Any athlete with outstanding fees will not be allowed on the water after this date.
